 Dr. Wright graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1994 with high honors, and completed his surgical training at UT Southwestern in Dallas in 2001. While in Dallas, he also completed a research fellowship in surgical critical care and his studies on organ injury shock have been published in multiple scientific journals. 

His practice focuses on minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery. After seeking additional bariatric surgery training in 2003, he has since become a top bariatric surgeon in Texas. 

He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, Bexar County Medical Society, and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has practiced general surgery in San Antonio since 2001 helping patients with a wide variety of medical issues such as gallbladder disease, hernias, intestinal disorders, breast disease and cancer.

Dr. Cárcamo graduated from the University of California at San Francisco in 1992 and completed his surgical training at University of Texas in Houston in 1997.

A large portion of his practice involves minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery. His interest in weight loss (bariatric) surgery led him to seek additional training in 2003, and he is now a top bariatric surgeon conducting LAP-BAND and REALIZE Band surgeries in San Antonio.

He is a member of the Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has practiced general surgery in San Antonio since 1997, dealing with a wide variety of health issues, such as gallbladder disease, hernias, intestinal disorder, breast disease and cancer.



Kathi Pierce, RNKathi Pierce, RN
Bariatric Nurse Manager

Kathi’s role at Nix Weight Loss Surgery Center is to help you through the process as you prepare for surgery and as you recover and begin a new chapter in your life. She will also be present on the day of your surgery to help in any way she can.

As a former weight loss surgery patient, Kathi personally understands the struggles of being overweight and the challenges of losing and keeping off weight. She had surgery in 1995, lost 140 pounds and kept it off! A nurse for 37 years, she also understands the anxieties that come along with surgery and will be there every step of the way. Kathi is extremely compassionate, caring and committed to her patients.



Julie Jarzombek, BS
Bariatric Nutrionist and Gastric Band Support Group Leader

Julie will work closely with you before surgery preparing for the lifestyle changes necessary for weight loss surgery success. She will also show you how to incorporate a healthy diet and eating habits and redefine your relationship with food. After your surgery, Julie will help you stay motivated and achieve immediate and long-term success. She also provides additional support though monthly group meetings and a 24 hour online support group.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Texas State University and is a Certified BSC Bariatric Support Group Leader. She is a member of the American Dietitian Association, Texas Counseling Association, and American Counseling Association and is an Integrated Health Professional with American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
