Back-to-School Stress Busters
Adults can have back-to-school stress, too. Remember to take care of yourself as we start this busy season.
- Take a recess by setting aside a few minutes each day to recharge. Use this time to do whatever you'd like or nothing at all.
- Exercise is a proven stress reliever. Go for a walk to burn calories and relax. Even if you can't find a large block of time, spending a few minutes several times a day exercising can be beneficial.
- Get on a healthy sleep schedule and a relaxing bedtime routine, like taking a bath or reading. Set a firm bed time to make sure you always get 7-8 hours a night.
- Put pen to paper in a journal or diary to express how you are feeling. Writing can help you work through and solve a problem.
- Take up a hobby to add something new and exciting to your life. Gardening, scrapbooking, solving puzzles, painting and knitting are all great stress relievers.
- Meditation is another effective way to ward off stress. Many gyms and community centers now offer yoga as part of their fitness calendars.
