What to Expect Before Weight Loss Surgery

Here is what you can expect before your surgery date:

  1. Your bariatric surgery case will be completed and submitted by the surgeon’s office staff to your insurance company. Once approved, your surgery date will be scheduled.
  2. You will be contacted by Nix Health Financial Counselors to discuss your insurance coverage and your estimated financial responsibility for the surgery.
  3. A nurse from our Pre-Admission team will contact you prior to surgery to ask you a few questions about your health history and complete some of your paperwork to make your surgery day flow easier.
  4. You may be asked to complete some medical tests prior to surgery if your surgeon deems them necessary. The surgeon’s office staff will go over these with you during your pre-op appointment.
  5.  You will be told the date and time of your surgery and when you must arrive at the facility.

All of these steps are part of an important process, and should happen before your date of surgery. Our goal is to make your weight loss surgery journey as smooth and simple as possible, but don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions at any point during the process.
